You can drop by at any time, whether you choose to have a brick oven pizza (yum!) or not, there’s no pressure to order anything. There IS pressure to bring your crafting and share it!

If you can’t make it today, then join World Wide Knit in Public day this Saturday at the Jonesborough Library.  Come by anytime from 9a – 2p. You can read more about this worldwide event here.

I’ve been teaching the Misterlys (mom, daughter and 8 yr old son) for just about a year. During that year they’ve made toys, sweaters and finished up piles of unfinished knitting!

It’s finally time for our first without-borders event!

This weekend we (and all of the yarn) will be at the Lavender Festival!

May 22, Saturday, 10-5 + May 23, Sunday, Noon-5 at The Gardens at Eureka Inn + 1st Ave. 127 Main St. Jonesborough, TN

The (free!) Festival includes:

We’ve also learned a bit about what you don’t need.

And after learning all this, we’ve decided that we can serve [...]]]> Since opening in December, we have learned a lot.

And after learning all this, we’ve decided that we can serve you best if we do something radical.
Something un-yarn-shop-y, something that will be better for YOU and US.
We are moving beyond the borders of the shop’s four walls.

We have decided to leave the Jonesborough shop, and head out into the world.

As we become a shop without borders, we can give you more of what you want.
More classes, more personal lessons, more stitching time.
More ideas, more creativity, more custom yarns + shawl pins.

I will still be teaching classes, all of the classes we have on the schedule, at locations around town. (Check the class schedule to see where each class will be held).
Only now, because I won’t be stuck in the shop for five days a week, I can teach even MORE classes.
I can meet for more one-on-one sessions or teach a class that YOU make up for you and a few friends.
Coming next week, you’ll be able to register for classes right on the website!

Our Stitch Therapies will still gather. Only now, we can hold even MORE. Friday evenings, during the weekdays, even Saturday afternoons; we’ll find times that work for the most people and we’ll get together all over town to knit and crochet and eat yummy baked goods.

This website will become the central hub for all of our yarny pursuits. It will will tell you where to next find us, what classes we’re holding, and all the newest fibery goodness.
We’ll also be sending out email updates (sign up here) every other week, so you’ll never miss a chance to get some yarn or classes.

And we, A Novel Yarn, still bursting with handmade yarn and fiber, will have a weekly booth at Jonesborough’s farmer’s market and at local craft shows (the first is the Lavender Festival, May 22 + 23).
You will be able to get your weekly dose of yarn + fiber + question-answering every week at the farmer’s market, starting May 29.

We hope that you’ll join us in celebrating this new step by joining us for a class or coming by our booth at the Lavender Festival.

If you can spot a yo or have decreased for a sweater (or gloves or socks), then you are ready to get adventurous.

Really.

I started the pattern last week  and I am blown away by how clearly the pattern was written.

It has both charts (which you’ll learn to read in the Adventurous Lace class) AND written instructions.

It has a detailed description of what you’re doing and how your doing it.

But, of course, if you come to the class, you won’t just get the pattern, you’ll also get lots of relaxed instruction.

I’ll teach you:

• to read a lace chart
• tips for memorizing the repeat, so you can knit on the go
• to “read” your knitting, so you know where you are in the chart
• how to pick the right yarn + needles for a lace project
• the fancy bind-off
• tips for blocking your lace

The class is 3 separate sessions, each an hour long. We’ll get started in the first class, switch to the second chart in the second class (and answer any questions!) and do the pretty bind-off in the last class.
