I’m hoping to usher in Spring with a new spate of classes for both brand-new knitters and ready-to-branch out knitters. One of our first classes will be all about lace – reading charts, learning slanted increases and decreases and making (intentional) holes in our knitting. But do that, we need a pattern to practice with! Instead of me picking the [...] The new Knitty is out! As usual, it’s full of great (free) patterns and articles. photo by Leethal Buttonhead really jumped out at me as being perfect for so many of our handspun yarns. Hats, even with the warming weather, seem to be a popular project with our knitters and this one is super customizable. There’s nothing like new life to usher in the First Day of Spring. We celebrated by welcoming the first babies born on the farm: 2 baby goats! We’re still undecided about the names. But no matter what we call them they are SO sweet! We just got in a new box of yarn! I’m going to try to video our new yarns whenever possible (sometimes I have to rip into them before I can set up the camera, like the new Kitchen Sink Dyeworks package [...] When a customer finds the perfect color, but it’s a sock yarn and she needs a worsted weight for her first sweater?
I email Mercedes (from Kitchen Sink Dyeworks) and she whips up the most perfect sweater yarn EVER. In 2 weeks!
Even better (for you!): she sent enough yarn to make another [...] Last Saturday we picked up the whole shop and most of the yarn and moved (for the day!) to Sycamore Shoals Fiber Festival, organized by the Over Mountain Weaver’s Guild. I had a really great time getting to know fiber-lovers from all over the area and sharing our yarn and classes with them. Towards the end of [...] Still sifting through the photos of last Saturday’s Fiber Festival (so much fun!), I stumbled across this fabulous site full of free children’s knitting patterns: Petite Purls.

Completely free and filled with demonstrations and ideas for EVERY kind of fiber-crafting! We are brining lots of yarn (some new yarns!), spinning fiber and shawl pins, so come by and say hello! March 13, 2010 (today!) PS. Because we’re all at the Fiber Festival, the Jonesborough [...] Tonight! Bring your knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, braiding, sewing, stitching to the Eureka Inn in Historic Jonesborough for a time of fellowship, coffee and, of course, stitching! March 12, 2010 (today!) (not sure where that is? Just come in the shop first and we’ll walk down together!) It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day!
