We’ve only been open a week, but we’ve already doubled the amount of fiber artists on our shelves! We opened with Blonde Chicken Boutique (that’s me!) yarn and fiber and Jen’s handdyed yarn from Fibro Fibers and in the last week we recieved handspun from Erin of Wooly Hands and Xiane of Three Ravens. Let’s look at it [...] We have gotten in some great new stuff this week, but while I upload those pictures, check out the new Knitty! Knitty is truly the best free source for knitting articles and patterns. It comes out quarterly and also inspires me to make at least one thing from each issue. This month, I’m seriously in love with [...] Hey, we’re open! Shelves are up, yarn is inventory, chairs are arranged and rugs are laid. Woo! Tonight’s the Jonesborough Christmas Parade and it goes right past our door. If you want to stay nice and warm, come watch it from the shop. I’ll have tea and hot chocolate and we’ll be open as long as you want [...] December 10 & 11 Final countdown! We open 12/12, so it all has to come together in these 2 days.
Our first yarn! From Jen Hintz of Fibro Fibers! And that’s it! 11 days of planning, building, painting, sanding, vacuuming, thrifting and planning and we’re done! We open tomorrow morning (12/12) at 10am and [...] December 8th & 9th So, how do you like the new site? On Tuesday morning, I got up extra early and started changing this website from the boring Wordpress default theme to something with a little more oomph. For now, pictures of our sheep, Shera & Maddie grace the top, along with some quick snaps of some [...] December 7th Camera issues, so no pictures today! Actually, we don’t need pictures, because you know what we did? Painted! And sanded! All for the big built-in-shelving that Jay designed and is building (from reclaimed wood) in the front room. While he was inhaling sawdust, I was snuggled into a comfy chair and installed a new wordpress theme. Not a quick [...] December 6, Sunday Today is our first official DAY OFF. But I can’t leave you Novel Yarn-less, can I? So instead of another what-we-painted-today post, how about some information about the *other* parts of the business? We have a Ravelry group here. It’s already filling up with cool people who have great ideas. December 5 Saturday! Jay went to shop and sanded boards (no picture, because, come on, just picture sanded boards), while Mom and I wrote up our partnership contract. Apparantly you need a signed contract of your partnership before you can open a [...] Guess What? More painting! Today, Jay was at work (did I mention that all of us have full-time jobs? I own the yarn company Blonde Chicken Boutique, Jay is a baker at Scratch and Mom has a job AND a farm) so today it was me, Mom and the brothers.
